About The Photographer
I'm Kyla. I am a professional family photographer based in West Kilbride in
North Ayrshire, on the west coast of Scotland.
I specialise in newborn and baby photography, and love to capture your little one throughout their first year of life.
My professional photography journey began back in 2017 when I started my
training in newborn posing and safety. My love for this photography genre has grown so much over the years and I just love my job.
I am also a mummy to my 7 year old twin boys, 4 year old baby girl, and my newest little edition born in 2023.
They grow so fast...
It’s such an exciting time expecting a baby, so much anticipation to meet your new little arrival and your gorgeous growing baby bump makes you smile every day.
It’s just so special. Whenever I hear a pregnancy or birth announcement I still get a wee tear in my eye and think about what a blessing it is and I think of my 3 little babies and my journey into Motherhood.
One thing for sure that I now always recommend when expecting a baby is having professional photographs taken- and this is not because I’m a professional photographer, haha. Honestly, the saying that everyone always says “enjoy every minute as it goes so fast” is so true. The time just goes by too fast and before you know it you are sending your little baby off to school!
Capturing those early years, I feel are just so important, having beautiful and professional images to look back on, to proudly showcase in your home really are priceless.
Think about how quickly babies grow out of their Moses baskets, their clothes, pram, baby toys and think about how much was spent for items that only last such a short amount of time, now think about something that lasts a lifetime - photographs. This is the investment you should be making, the one that really means something, the one that will last.
This is why I recommend having photographs taken to remember and cherish every part of parenthood and your baby’s early years from the beautiful baby bump to ultimate first birthday cake smash. It is all precious, it is all special and it will all go by in the blink of an eye.

Your session whether it’s your maternity session, newborn, sitter, family or cake smash are all unique and at our consultation we will talk over your vision and aim to bring it to life. My extensive prop collection ( I’m a bit of a shopaholic when it comes to baby props ) is for your use, allowing you to choose which outfits, colours, props you’d love to have for your session.
Cake smashes are a lot of fun too - I can create any set up you like, any theme, any colour scheme and create something that your little one will love.
I can also have themes at your sitter and newborn photo shoots if you so desire too. It’s great fun making new set ups and the pictures are always so sweet.

My photography studio...
I have a home photography studio - it’s cute and it’s cosy and I always get a lot of comments on how fab it is. People aren’t expecting it when the first walk through the door. It’s well equipped with top quality professional equipment, my vast range of outfits and props, has a lovely wee seating area, two / three backdrop areas. I also have a perfect prep machine which some parents are so thankful for at their newborn session.
My studio is in West Kilbride, it’s a small town in north ayrshire, by the coast. Beautiful views to Arran and a quick drive from Glasgow or other parts of Ayrshire and Renfrewshire. It’s super handy and still feels like you live right in the countryside.
You get all different types of photographers. Some have lots of experience, some are new and portfolio building.
We also all have different price ranges, offer different products and packages.
It’s all about you finding what’s best for you and what your priorities are.
Photography is my passion and it’s art. I take great care in my composition, lighting, set up, editing and so on and ensure that you are receiving high quality, professional, creative and timeless images.
I’ve been working in newborn and family photography for over 6 years now and I’m fully trained and qualified in newborn posing and safety.
I am continually learning and investing in myself to ensure that I am working to the best of my abilities and continually meeting industry safety standards and learning new techniques and skills to bring into my studio.
Training & Safety...
We took our baby boy to Kyla when he was only 13 days old for his newborn shoot. Being first time parents, I had lots of questions for Kyla and she always messaged back quickly with lots of information.
Kyla was amazing, lots of patience and worked her magic to get him sleeping and comfortable.
Today I recieved all the photos and I am in love! they are amazing!

In my photography packages I offer prints and love seeing images printed out, especially printed out in a big format. That’s why I also offer a range of wall art. Just ask me about these and I can tell you all the different types of wall art I offer.

My bespoke photography sessions are designed to suit you and I aim to make every photoshoot different from the next, whilst still keeping my photographic style throughout. I will change colours, props, outfits, backdrops etc to create your perfect vision. These are all things we discuss at your online or telephone consultation.
When it comes to your newborn baby, safety is my top priority during your session. I have had in depth training in newborn photography and safe newborn posing with top UK newborn photography specialists. I'm also a member of BANPAS (Baby and Newborn Photography Association) and will take great care of your little one during their newborn session. So you can sit back and relax, knowing your precious new baby is in safe hands.
